Three Ways To Stand Out During The Holidays

Welcome to the Burlingame Chamber of Commerce’s new blog series: Burlingame Business Tips! Twice monthly posts will include everything from how to market your business to helpful interviews with expert members. We look forward to your feedback in the comments!

1. Make your staff your advocates. Employee advocacy maybe be touted as the latest and greatest way to reach new potential customers, but it’s been around ever since businesses were invented! Making sure your employees are referring your business to their friends and families is vital, especially with today’s saturated market. The newest spin on employee advocacy is all about social media. Did you knot that there is only an 8% of overlap between your customer and employee social networks? Ask your staff to share your holiday marketing campaign. Whether it’s accounting services on Linkedin or handmade soaps on Facebook, you will reach potential customers without spending any additional time and money!

2. Value your existing customers. Most holiday marketing advice recommends giving your existing customers or clients a discount coupons or access to a special sale. But let’s be honest, how many “special offer” emails have you received in your inbox this week alone? Giving value to your loyal customers is all about helping them solve a problem. Figure out your customer’s achilles heel this holiday season and offer your products or services as the solution! They will thank you for it.

3. Humanize your business. Sometimes the best way to create goodwill is to pull aside the curtain! Create ‘behind the scenes’ content, like a short video of your staff putting up holiday decorations or a photo of everyone in festive hats. The more unique the better! Include it in your newsletter and post on social. Show the people behind the business fosters trust with your customers, making them think of you like family!
